For families navigating childhood cancer, the hard days can feel like they take up all the space. The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation creates moments that give families a chance to step away from the appointments, treatments, and uncertainty — and simply enjoy being together.
Bringing Families Together for Fun, Laughter, and Joy
For 10 years, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation has been creating, funding, and sending special care packages to Iowa families affected by childhood cancer. Through our partnership with Children’s Cancer Connection, an Iowa nonprofit that supports families throughout their childhood cancer journey, we’re able to reach families who could use a little extra joy.
From choosing each theme and filling every box to covering the cost and delivering the packages right to families’ doorsteps, the Hansen Foundation makes these surprises happen. Each package is thoughtfully designed to bring families together, create memories, and give children a chance to simply have fun with the people they love.

In 2025, the Hansen Foundation delivered two uniquely themed care packages to more than 400 families across Iowa.
Snow Day
When the weather outside isn’t cooperating, the fun can still come inside.
The Snow Day package included hot chocolate, mini marshmallows, an indoor snowball fight set, snow brick and snowball molds, a snowman accessory set, and a cozy blanket for winding down after a day of play.
Family Movie Night
A movie night doesn’t have to happen at the theater.
Families received popcorn, popcorn boxes and seasonings, classic movie theater candies, and a unique card game to turn an ordinary night at home into a memorable one.
