We work alongside Iowa veterans and service members every day. Honoring them isn’t a program we created — it’s something we were already doing. We just found better ways to show it.
The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation has been showing gratitude to Iowa's military community since the earliest days of this work. Not once a year. Not just on Veterans Day. All year long — through gifts that arrive on doorsteps, through meals that bring units together, through money that helps a Gold Star family gather around a table.
Five Ways We Say Thank You
My Veteran Hero
Every day, Iowans nominate a veteran in their life — a parent, a neighbor, a spouse — and we send that veteran a custom apparel item with a note naming who thought of them. Recognition, delivered to the door.
Pork Care Packages
Every year, Iowa Select Farms employees hand-deliver $40 in pork product coupons to active duty and reserve armed forces members across Iowa. A practical, personal thank-you that feeds families throughout the year.
Pork for Patriots
Each fall, we supply veterans’ organizations across Iowa with pork loins and event kits — everything needed to host a meaningful Veterans Day celebration in November.
Project Food & Fellowship
A micro-grant program for military and veteran organizations hosting social gatherings — from holiday parties to resource fairs to welcome-home ceremonies. Because food is what brings people to the table, and these families deserve a table worth gathering around.
